Why USPS Pulled a Branded T-shirt From Its Online Store

Lehman, who worked in aviation for 33 years, is pretty confident that the T-shirt shows a Soviet Tu-114, a renowned airliner from the late 1950s until 1976 and the civilian counterpart to the Tu-95, a bomber. APWU: Do not participate in the 2019 Postal Pulse Survey

"...The APWU implores you once again: Do not participate in the 2019 Postal Pulse Survey. You are probably being flooded with emails, postcards to your home, stand-up talks, posters on time clocks, and other tactics to try to get you to take the survey. So, what has the Postal Service done in the last year? Have things improved since the survey was first put out and found that the USPS ranked low in every category? The reality is, the steps the Postal Service took to make the workplace “more engaging” are meaningless. You still have difficult supervisors and you are having more demanded of you, putting your health and safety at risk. Staff is being reduced, people are being excessed and morale is being decimated. And now, in 2019, the survey is being pushed immediately before the APWU will begin interest arbitration with the Postal Service to establish a contract. There is more than a good chance that the results of this survey will be utilized, as has been done previously, in interest arbitration against you. The Postal Pulse and any initiatives to get you to participate are not in your best interest..."

FedEx Voluntary Buyouts

FedEx Starts $575 Million Worker Buyout

"...The FedEx company is offering U.S. employees four weeks of pay for every year worked as part of a cost-cutting initiative announced in December..."

This Article is From: www.bloomberg.com

This above article is a good example of a FedEx voluntary buyout vs. a Postal Service buyout (VSIP) based on the cash pay-out incentive alone. FedEx is offering four weeks of pay for every year worked [Example: based on $60,000/year base at 40 years] would equate to approximately $90,000 versus a USPS VSIP that is limited $25,000. Our example is based on a 26 pay period year. Please note, that in all fairness, other factors must be considered in addition to the cash offering. For example, we do not know the details relating to continuance of pension, health insurance coverage, wage comparisons, life insurance, pension COLA's, dental insurance, and how the incentive will be distributed. The Postal Service is known for offering "craft employees" less than the $25,000 limited by law and then splitting up that tiny payment over two pay-outs over a timed period. - Postal Newsgroup

USPS Offers 'No Incentive' Voluntary Early Retirement

USPS Offers 'No Incentive' Voluntary Early Retirement

The Postal Service is making a Voluntary Retirement Offer to eligible mail handler and clerk employees. However, much to the chagrin of workers, there are no incentives to entice employees to make a move in that direction. This has left employees questioning the move as they see their federal employee brothers and sisters last year being approved by congress for a pilot program that increased Voluntary Separation Incentive Pay (VSIP) for DoD civilian workers to $40,000 for one year. The typical VSIP is maxed out at $25,000. However the Postal Service has consistently offered much less in their last three offers and now an offer of no incentive.

The current USPS offer begins Jan. 8. There will be three (3) effective dates in which eligible employees may choose in the Vonluntary Early Retirement offer. Those dates are: Jan. 31, Feb. 28 and March 31. Eligible employees should receive letters making the offer soon. To read more on the offer go to the following URL: https://link.usps.com/2018/01/04/voluntary-early-retirements/

The Voluntary Early Retirement offer with no incentive leaves one to question the intent of an offer that will most likely only derive a very small number of takers. Some may question whether this is simply an offer that is made to satisfy union obligations to reduce numbers with the least disruption to employees in the event of more consolidations/closures should something like that take place in the future. However, it is highly unlikely a no-incentivized offer would satisfy any union requirements with an offer that would seem unrealistic in generating much movement out the door. If you would like to follow the conversation or join the conversation, Federal Soup offers a great forum for doing so at: https://forum.federalsoup.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=79888
