Amazon in discussions with USPS about future relationship

"...the e-commerce giant is in discussions with the U.S. Postal Service about its future relationship and considering its options before its current contract expires next year. The Washington Post reported Thursday new Postmaster General David Steiner plans to hold a reverse auction in early 2026 that might create more competition within the Post Office for Amazon's business by offering access to postal facilities to the highest bidder, rather than directly to Amazon. It would make the company compete with national retail brands and regional shipping firms. ..."

More stamp price changes are expected: How expensive could they get?

"...Earlier this summer, the cost of a Forever stamp rose five cents, marking the largest price increase the U.S. has seen on first-class mail.

You may want to stock up now, especially with additional price hikes already on the horizon.

The latest increase, which took effect on July 13, marked a 7.4 percent bump on first-class mail stamps alone. At 78 cents a piece, it may not feel like very long until they reach $1.

The July price hike is the seventh since 2021 — there were two rate increases in 2023 and 2024. Since 2014, stamps have gone up nearly 30 cents each. ..."

USPS shared customer postal addresses with Meta, LinkedIn and Snap

"The postal service took action to ‘remediate’ the issue following a TechCrunch investigation ...On Wednesday, the USPS said it addressed the issue and stopped the practice, claiming that it was “unaware” of it. TechCrunch found USPS was sharing customers’ information by way of hidden data-collecting code (also known as tracking pixels) used across its website. Tech and advertising companies create this kind of code to collect information about the user — such as which pages they visit — every time a webpage containing the code loads in the customer’s browser. In the case of USPS, some of that collected data included the postal addresses of logged-in USPS Informed Delivery customers, who use the service to see photos of their incoming mail before it arrives. ..."

Speedy Delivery | Postal worker caught racing Mustang in USPS van, hitting 105 mph

"...According to the traffic report, the van had no plates and the driver appeared to be racing a Ford Mustang.

In the body camera video, the deputy goes on to say, “Yeah. I mean, that Mustang took off. He caught my attention, and then you blew by him, and I was pacing you at like 105.”

Court records identified the driver as Drew Brown, 28. She told officials she worked for the Fremont post office.

Brown waived the case, which is now closed, and paid a $50 fine for the traffic violation after receiving a verbal warning for racing.

A spokesperson for the USPS shared the following statement: “Drew Brown is an employee. It is under investigation and as a matter of policy, we are unable to comment further on a specific individual personnel matter.”..."
