OPM tells FEHB carriers to prepare for USPS health program’s launch

"In preparation for the 2025 plan year, OPM for the first time outlined clearer plans to implement the Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) program in January. ...A special enrollment period beginning April 1 as well as the upcoming Open Season this fall will be the first time Postal employees and annuitants will be able to enroll in the brand-new health insurance program, mandated by the Postal Service Reform Act that President Joe Biden signed into law in 2022. ...Any FEHB carrier that wants to apply to offer plans in the PSHB program must submit their proposal of benefits and rates by May 31, OPM said. Then enrollees in the new PSHB program will begin receiving coverage on the first day of 2025."

Missouri | Cape Girardeau postal worker convicted of stealing mail

"...After a trial lasting less than two days, 33-year-old Robert Gafford of Jackson was found guilty of one count of delaying or destroying mail and one count of embezzlement of mail.

Nevada reps oppose plan to move key postal operations from Reno to Sacramento

"...Nevada’s two Democratic senators and lone Republican member of Congress have joined the chorus of opposition to the United States Postal Service’s (USPS) plans to move its Reno mail processing operations to Sacramento, The Nevada Independent has learned. Under the proposal, the Reno facility — which is the hub for Northern Nevada mail — would no longer be responsible for processing mail and would instead become a center that would prepare already-processed mail for delivery. This means that if someone from Northern Nevada sends something in the mail, it would first go to Sacramento before reaching its destination. ...They asked for USPS to provide any assessments conducted on the impact of downsizing the Reno facility on the region and the impacts of the region’s weather on service. The drive from Sacramento to Reno crosses over the Sierra Nevada mountain range, which often receives heavy snow. “USPS does not provide information about the study on which it relied to reach this determination"

Postal workers rally amid threat of Buffalo USPS facility’s move to Rochester
