Van Wert Postal Worker Charged After Burning Mail

"...A Van Wert, Ohio, mail carrier has pleaded not guilty to federal charges after allegedly burning undelivered mail, WLIO reports. Kyle Carver faces one count of delay or destruction of mail. The case began in October when a Van Wert police officer responded to a backyard fire in the 900 block of George Street around 7:30 a.m. The officer discovered mail being burned at the residence...."

Complaints filed with Postal Service over flurry of mail found along highway

"Officials are investigating a post office in Marion after receiving multiple complaints regarding lost or damaged mail and reports of letters and packages scattered along U.S. 2. ...found pieces of mail scattered along U.S. 2, and other residents reported picking up mail off the ground near their mailboxes. Among the complaints were reports and photos of a white pickup delivering mail in the truck bed, either uncovered or with the tailgate missing.

“We observed [the route driver] consistently carrying the mail/packages in an open, uncovered pickup truck bed on the highway regardless of weather,” Marion resident Ellen Stone told the Inter Lake in a message on social media. ...Postmaster Keira Baldwin, who oversees the Marion post office remotely from another post office in Kila, declined to comment...“Our office has been informed that the highway contractor for this route has removed the carrier from the route, a new carrier has started, and that a secure, enclosed vehicle is now being used.” "

USPS | Employee goes to prison for stealing money orders and mail

"The man was selling them to a ringleader from a drug gang...A former mail carrier in Pennsylvania who stole 300 Postal Service money orders and several hundred pieces of mail is now serving time in federal prison.

The ex-employee’s conviction was part of an investigation by the USPS Office of Inspector General...OIG special agents found that the carrier was targeting mail containing checks and other personally identifiable information, which he provided to a ringleader affiliated with a New York City drug gang."

Ex-mail carrier gets 3 years for drug smuggling

"...The woman was caught trying to bring narcotics from Mexico...The mail carrier was arrested at the San Ysidro border just shy of her ninth anniversary with USPS. She had tried crossing in her personal vehicle, which had been modified to conceal drugs in the gas compartment. A K-9 officer at the border detected the scent of drugs and officers also confirmed a strong gasoline odor, as the drug-laden tank was leaking fuel.

Even more egregious was that the employee was caught in full postal uniform — a failed strategy to avoid scrutiny and detection."

Philly postal workers charged with stealing $80 million in U.S. Treasury checks

"...Two former U.S. Postal Service employees who worked at the USPS Philadelphia Processing and Distribution Center were charged with stealing more than $80 million in U.S. Treasury checks, the Department of Justice said on Wednesday.

According to an indictment, Tauheed Tucker, 23, and Saahir Irby, 27, stole thousands of envelopes containing U.S. Treasury checks while working as USPS mail processing clerks.

Two other men, Cory Scott, 25, of Ardmore and Alexander Telewoda, 25, of Clifton Heights were also charged with conspiracy to steal government funds, theft of government funds and mail theft. ..."

"...A United States postal worker is facing multiple theft charges, including opening mail that didn’t belong to her, after police said she was caught stealing at a Buc-ee’s in Leeds, Alabama.

While in custody for shoplifting at the store, police searched 39-year-old Amber Beard’s purse and car and found stolen merchandise, a multitude of checks, credit and debit cards, and Alabama drivers’ licenses not belonging to her, as well as U.S. mail addressed to several people in the Birmingham area.

While in custody, Beard told officers she works for USPS. ..."

Colorado USPS Transportation Network Specialist pleads guilty to accepting bribes and kickbacks in exchange for awarding trucking contracts

"... In one case, Rho received nearly $300,000 in kickbacks. In another, Rho met a representative of a trucking company in a parking lot several times to receive cash. The case has drawn additional scrutiny due to connections to a deadly 2022 crash in Weld County, where a postal service contractor's truck killed a family of five. While no allegations link Rho to bribery involving the company responsible for that crash, court documents reveal Rho...Investigators determined the truck did not have working brakes or proper insurance, and the driver did not have a valid license.

Rho later represented the Postal Service during a deposition related to the lawsuit over the fatal collision. Family members of the crash victims told 9NEWS they were unaware of Rho's connection to their case"

Leeds, Alabama | USPS mail carrier arrested for shoplifting at Buc-ee’s
