This is Not Good | New Postmark Rules Could Delay Mailed Tax Payments, Dodge County Treasurer Warns

"...A recent U.S. Postal Service rule change means that mail sent more than 50 miles from a regional processing center—like Milwaukee or Minneapolis—won’t be postmarked when it’s dropped off. Instead, it’ll be stamped a day or two later when it reaches the processing facility. That delay could cause problems for taxpayers because Wisconsin law says mailed tax payments are considered on time only if the envelope is postmarked on or before the due date. Treasurer Kris Keith says the safest way to avoid late fees is simple: bring your envelope to the counter and ask for a hand-stamped postmark. ..."
