Former Gettysburg Times publisher pleads guilty to stealing packages, selling them online

"...The former publisher of the Gettysburg Times pleaded guilty to stealing packages from the Gettysburg post office to sell online, according to a news release and court documents. ...Harry Hartman, 54, of Garnet Valley in Delaware County, the Times' former publisher, had been formally charged June 5 with a felony charge of mail theft. ...complaints that packages marked as “delivered” or “out for delivery” had not been received."

APWU | Update: CDL Medical Certification Integration

"...The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) adopted a rule change in 2015, along with many other components of this rule change, was the requirement that the Medical Examiner who performs a Commercial Driver Certification physical will electronically notify the commercial operator's state driver license agency. This part of the rule change had been postponed multiple times. This additional part of the rule change will go into effect on June 23, 2025. When a commercial driver has been given a physical, those results will be transmitted to the FMCSA within 24 hours and sent by the FMCSA to the State Driver’s License Agency (SDLA). There will no longer be a need to provide the medical examiner certificates to the state driver's license agency. When getting a CDL physical, the driver should ask for a copy to carry with them for the first few weeks. *USPS has not notified the union or our members of these mandatory changes. ..."

Philly postal workers charged with stealing $80 million in U.S. Treasury checks

"...Two former U.S. Postal Service employees who worked at the USPS Philadelphia Processing and Distribution Center were charged with stealing more than $80 million in U.S. Treasury checks, the Department of Justice said on Wednesday.

According to an indictment, Tauheed Tucker, 23, and Saahir Irby, 27, stole thousands of envelopes containing U.S. Treasury checks while working as USPS mail processing clerks.

Two other men, Cory Scott, 25, of Ardmore and Alexander Telewoda, 25, of Clifton Heights were also charged with conspiracy to steal government funds, theft of government funds and mail theft. ..."

The proposed union contract is three years in duration: September 21, 2024, through September 20, 2027. ...General Annual Wage Increases and Cost-of-Living-Adjustments (COLA)

1.3% November 16, 2024 (will be paid retroactively)

1.4% November 15, 2025

1.5% November 14, 2026

As PSEs receive no COLA, there will be an additional 1% increase each year (2.3%, 2.4%, and 2.5%) with an extra 50 cents/hour after 26 weeks. ..."

Do you have old postal artifacts? Don’t get rid of them without first checking with the USPS historian

"...USPS is reminding employees of the proper procedure for disposing of old postal equipment and documents.

If there are unwanted postal artifacts at a workplace, the facility’s manager should email photos and a description of each item to the Postal Service historian’s office. Artifacts should not be sent to USPS headquarters in Washington, DC, without approval.

Employees may not take old postal items home, sell them or donate them to a museum, including the National Postal Museum in Washington, DC. ...
