Mail Routes and Contractors - Research

"...Most records on mail and star routes have been transferred by the Postal Service to the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, DC.

The information in Record Group 28 includes registers of mail and star routes from 1814 to 1960, although there are gaps in these records. Records from 1870 to 1918 were destroyed decades ago. They usually do not show the names of subcontractors. There are indexes to mail routes by individual Post Offices in some time periods. ..."

The 'S' Fund trailed in the year-to-date category at over 21%.
