Post office to cut jobs, operations in Athens


"...The U.S. Postal Service plans to cut 17 positions and move some operations out of the Athens post office, which has been without a postmaster since the end of January. The post office will hold a public meeting in two weeks to explain its plan to move mail-processing operations from Athens to a postal service processing and distributing center in Duluth, post office spokesman Michael Miles said..."

Thieves target postal drop boxes


"...Adkins Postmaster Jesse Garcia said the two boxes might be part of a string of several similar incidents, and that the San Antonio metropolitan area has been dealing with a recent spike in this sort of activity. At his post office, Garcia said, they are working to prevent future incidents...."

Thieves steal gas from postal trucks, cars


"...Postal workers called police when they noticed a broken gas cap on the ground along with the nozzle to a gas can. Police then checked other cars in the lot. At least half a tank of gas was siphoned from the postmaster’s sport utility vehicle..."
