USPS raising stamp prices: Last chance to lock in Forever stamp rate ahead of increase

"...The price of first-class Forever stamps will increase from 68 cents to 73 cents on July 14, an increase of more than 7%. Prices for all services will rise more than 7.5%.

The price hikes are part of the USPS 10-year "Delivering for America" plan ..."

USPS nearly always lets law enforcement spy on Americans' mail without warrant

"...Since 2015, the United States Postal Service has agreed to 97% of requests made to share customer's information with law enforcement. These requests for customer's names and their 'to's and 'from's were issued without warrants and regularly complied with. This practice is surprisingly and disappointingly legal. I wonder if they were allowed to shake the box, too. ..."

US Postal Service downgrades South Dakota mail operations

"...SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The U.S. Postal Service has finalized its plan to downgrade the downtown Sioux Falls post office to a local processing center, shifting non-local mail operations to a facility in Omaha, Nebraska. The reorganization, first introduced in January, has sparked concerns about slower mail delivery to rural communities because letters and packages formerly processed and sent from Sioux Falls will be routed through Omaha, 160 miles away. ..."

‘Difficult and disappointing year’: UPS to lay off 12,000 employees — just six months after workers won a ‘lucrative’ new labor deal. What’s going on with the shipping giant?

"...This shocking announcement made on Tuesday comes just six months after unionized UPS workers landed a “lucrative” new labor deal, which will see delivery drivers earning an average of $170,000 in annual pay and benefits by the end of the five years.

“2023 was a unique, and quite candidly, difficult and disappointing year,” said UPS CEO Carol Tomé during the company’s earnings call. “We experienced declines in volume, revenue and operating profits and all three of our business segments.”

She attributed the weak performance to increased labor costs..."
