Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker Crosses the Line in Attack on Working Class

APWU Stands in Solidarity with Embattled Workers

"...“We know if they succeed in Wisconsin, we and other workers will be next,” said APWU President Cliff Guffey. “We must stand in solidarity with the workers in Wisconsin.”

On Feb. 12, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R) introduced legislation that is being called an “attack on basic rights” by labor leaders across the country. Walker’s legislation would destroy collective bargaining for state workers, undermine middle-class jobs by lowering wages, shrinking benefits, and weakening unions.

Among other assaults on the working class, Walker’s bill would block academic staff and faculty from being represented by a union in collective bargaining, and state employee unions would only be allowed to negotiate over wages. This would take away employees’ ability to file grievances and bargain over benefits such as health care, job security, and workplace protections...."    postal news

Federal Duck Stamps

Federal Duck Stamp
1940 Federal Duck Stamp - The Dunavant Collection

Collecting Federal Duck Stamps

An oft overlooked collectible stamp is the Federal Duck Stamp. The Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamps, often known as “Ducks Stamps,” are pictorial stamps produced by the Postal Service for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. These stamps are not valid for postage. Originally, these stamps were created in 1934 as the federal licenses required for duck hunting and hunting migratory waterfowl. In addition to serving as a hunting license and a conservation tool, the Federal Duck Stamp also serves as an entrance pass for our National Wildlife Refuges where admission is often charged. Duck Stamps and the products that bear duck stamp images are also rare collector items. Some states have their own duck stamp programs. For example, Alabama has its own Duck Stamp Program. In fact, local artists design the stamps and personally offer collectible artwork pertaining to the issuance of the duck stamp. One example, again in Alabama, is artist John Warr. John Warr produced the art for the 1988-1989 Alabama Duck Stamp.
