Canada Post union launches strike as Ottawa moves to curb door-to-door mail

"The Canadian Union of Postal Workers is declaring a countrywide strike, hours after Ottawa announced door-to-door mail delivery will end ...“Mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered for the duration of the national strike, and some post offices will be closed,” she wrote. ...the union have agreed to continue delivering government welfare cheques...changes also will include slowing down the frequency of mail delivery and shuttering some post offices. ..."

Canada Post | Postal workers 'very confused, very angry' about imposed end to strike

Canada Post paid pre-retirement leave

Canada Post and Canadian Union of Postal Workers have a great benefit:

"...a regular employee who attains fifty (50) years of age and completes twenty (20) years of continuous employment or, attains sixty (60) years of age and completes five (5) years of continuous employment, shall be entitled to be paid a pre-retirement leave of one (1) week..."
