Custodian discovers World War II letter at Elgin post office, returns keepsake to writer's family

"...Caulfield asked around and learned Gathman worked at the Elgin Post Office from 1940 to 1973. Caulfield and his wife then used Facebook to track down Gathman’s son, Bruce, who lives in South Carolina. Caulfield sent him the letter via priority mail..."

Birmingham brothers sentenced to federal prison in Mexican cartel drug distribution case

"...The investigation began when U.S. Postal inspectors and SBI agents began investigating mailings of dozens of packages from Phoenix, Arizona to the Birmingham area in December 2016, according to court documents. The investigation began after postal inspectors in Arizona contacted inspectors in Alabama about a package they had intercepted and found to contain more than three pounds of methamphetamine. The package was addressed to a Birmingham-area home...the person who mailed that package as Deron Lee Green, a former Alabama resident with family in Birmingham..."

Postal worker, nearing retirement, dies in record-setting CA heat

"...A dedicated employee with 28 years of service, and close to retirement, Peggy Frank had just returned to work from medical leave...Tragedy struck Friday, her first day of work in months after suffering a broken ankle, according to family. The 63-year-old was found unresponsive in her mail delivery truck as temperatures topped more than 115 degrees"
